Dr. Denise Brewer

Denise Brewer is an Associate Professor in the Department of Family and Child Studies at Appalachian State University. She currently serves as the Interim Chair. She received her B.S. in Birth through Kindergarten from Appalachian State University, her M.Ed. in Early Intervention and Family Support from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, and her Ph.D. in Special Education from the University of North Carolina at Charlotte. Prior to joining the faculty at ASU, she worked as a Developmental Disabilities Specialist for Mecklenburg County Infant-Toddler Services (Children’s Developmental Services Agency-CDSA).

  • Developmentally Appropriate Practices (DAP) and Recommended Practices (RP) for all young children
